If the mass of the pan is 80g and the chunk of clay being dropped onto it is 200g. Determine the spring constant.

this week, let’s reinvent the wheel. have a look at problem #4 and discuss the physics before and after the string is cut.   question:  after the string is cut, is the tension in the string holding up the mass equal to the weight of the mass? why or why not?

i keep trying to organize this stuff in context of the way this blog tool works. let’s try this.

new structure:

1. you are now at the main blog, “AP Mechanics”. check it on mondays! do not comment on this blog. it is used for instructions and information only. your comments will be directed to the forum associated with each problem.

2. problems and questions  appear at the right as “pages.” each page is a problem, each problem is followed by a forum. post your comments here.

3. new problems are posted by 7am monday morning. you must make your first post by tuesday midnight. your second post is due by thursday midnight. comments may be first response or comments to that response, but they must be meaningful in context of the problem and the discussion.

4. data for the scenario will be supplied at some point and the solved problem is due boc friday.

Everyone should be on problem #2 this week, april 14-18
